Why did you choose to enter this work?
"Through the Dust" reflects not only the culmination of my artistic journey but also a deeply personal narrative. This project serves as a heartfelt tribute to my grandmother, Lola.

What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
My project brings my family stories to life, transforming them into vivid representations rather than myths. I also love the way it captures both the vastness and loneliness of the American landscape.

What excites you most about being shortlisted?
I'm thrilled to be recognized among so many talented illustrators worldwide. This opens the door to international collaborations, and connecting with others who share a love for storytelling.

Where do you usually work?
I usually work from my home studio, which I keep set up dynamically so I can create from different spots, as I don’t love being tied to a desk. I also enjoy working in coffee shops for brainstorming.

How long did it take to complete your project?
This project was completed in approximately three months.

What is your dream commission?
To expand on the current project I’ve started, creating a much larger book that centers around my father's remarkable life experiences. His life story is filled with diverse adventures and characters.

What’s your favourite thing to draw?
Ever since I was a little girl I've loved drawing horses. I also love drawing portraits and enjoy the challenge of capturing the unique features and emotions of each person.

What is your best tip for other illustrators?
Experiment with new styles, techniques, or subjects you haven’t explored yet. Pursuing a passion outside of your illustration career can also provide you with renewed energy and inspiration.

What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future are focused on advancing my illustration career, particularly in book illustration projects. I also aspire to pursue a master’s degree in art next year.
