Why did you choose to enter this work?
This was my first mural and large-scale work and I wanted to share the happiness I felt while painting this mural. Each monkey has their own personality and I wanted to share them with the world.
What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
Monkey. And as I am someone who usually works in traditional ink and brush, being able to translate my visual language into an acrylic mural was a great achievement.
What excites you most about being shortlisted?
Just being shortlisted excites me! I hope that this will open new doors and opportunities for me as an illustrator.
Where do you usually work?
Just on a desk in my room. A sketchbook is a must.
How long did it take to complete your project?
Three weeks.
What is your dream commission?
To collaborate with Uniqlo on a graphic tee! And to publish an illustrated book/art book.
What’s your favourite thing to draw?
Narratives of daily life.
What is your best tip for other illustrators?
Do first, think later. Sometimes overthinking about our work stops us from trying.
What are your plans for the future?
Growing my career as a freelance illustrator and continuing to hone my craft.
