Why did you choose to enter this work?
A debut film is an important milestone for every filmmaker! It's the biggest personal project I’ve worked on so far, with every aspect created by me except for the sound design and voice-over.

What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
My favorite thing about my shortlisted project the style and the art direction choices I made. I loved thinking through every small detail of the imagery, even if the audience might not notice them.

What excites you most about being shortlisted?
Honestly, I’m most excited about the opportunity to connect with more artists and for more people to see the project I’ve spent so much time on!

Where do you usually work?
I work remotely from my home office, using a PC and Cintiqs for 3D work, though I still reach for a sketchbook when ideas strike.

How long did it take to complete your project?
Making animated films takes a while, even if they are only 2.5 minutes long. The whole process, from the original idea to the final edit, took about 1.5 years.

What is your dream commission?
Currently, my dream commission is to art direct 3D animated commercial in a painterly, Alberto Mielgo-inspired style. Tackling controversial topics like condoms commercial would be very intriguing!

What’s your favourite thing to draw?
As selfish as it might sound, it’s probably myself and demon-like cats.

What is your best tip for other illustrators?
As an artist in animation, I can’t stress enough how important personal projects are. Finding time is tough, but these projects are what truly help turn your art into a career!

What are your plans for the future?
As I mentioned earlier, I’d love to take on more projects as 3D Artist and Art Director for commercial animation. I’d love to join a studio,somewhere like New York, as a staff artist to keep learning.
