Why did you choose to enter this work?
I felt that this work had a strong concept and a playful, childlike approach to exploring the theme of science. It speaks in a language that's both imaginative and accessible.
What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
What I love most is that this project manages to connect with a wide range of people. Regardless of their age or personality, they often pause for a moment and dive into my world.
What excites you most about being shortlisted?
Being selected is a huge boost for me as an artist. It has given me more confidence and the motivation to keep building new "worlds" through my work.
Where do you usually work?
I like to work at the Estonian Academy of Arts. That place has everything I need—no bed (which is really important!), food, a proper workspace, and friends. I always begin with paper and pencil.
How long did it take to complete your project?
It took about four months to create the illustrations and another month to bring them to life on the walls. It was a long journey—like growing from a seed into a huge four-meter flower.
What is your dream commission?
Something that allows me to combine storytelling, large-scale illustration, ideally in a public space where people can interact with the work, and put their vision into my artwork.
What’s your favourite thing to draw?
Birds and hearts. Can't stop drawing them.
What is your best tip for other illustrators?
Sport is important!
What are your plans for the future?
Try more new techniques, develop my understanding of illustration.
