Why did you choose to enter this work?
I chose to enter this work because it is the most representative of me: loud, bold, colorful, and funny.

What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
I love the illustration of all the snooty tropical fish - especially the little seahorses.

What excites you most about being shortlisted?
It's so amazing being recognized among such beautiful artwork and alongside such talented artists from all over the world!

Where do you usually work?
I usually work at my desk or in the basement screenprinting room at my uni.

How long did it take to complete your project?
I completed this project in the whirlwind of artistic energy that came after completing my MA. I could finally let loose and have fun after all of that stress!

What is your dream commission?
I would love to be commissioned to make books about all of the different and weird creatures in the world. I love shapes and patterns and colors, and nature has created so many wacky creatures!

What’s your favourite thing to draw?
Fish! And birds.

What is your best tip for other illustrators?
Treat your artistic practice like exercise - you need to put in the reps to see the results, and a short workout is better than no workout.

What are your plans for the future?
Because learning a new skill like screenprinting cracked open a whole new visual language for me, my plans for the future are to keep creating and pushing myself to learn new techniques.
